The 2012 Sterling High School Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place Saturday, January 28 at Centennial Auditorium. The 1950, 1977, and 1978 boys’ track teams, the 1980 girls' basketball team, and individuals Roger Puterbaugh '50, Peter Barajas '60, Walt Divers '78, Monte Eldert '78, Tori Gaumer-Ladner '01, and Sarah Alderfer '04 were inducted.

Academic Booster Project: SHS Chess Team
The SHS Academic Booster Club (ABC), a subcommittee of the Sterling Schools Foundation, was created in 2004 after Sterling Public Schools were forced to eliminate a number of school clubs and organizations as result of budgetary shortfalls. One program that has flourished under the ABC umbrella is the SHS Chess Club.  SHS Math teacher Joel Penne is the club's advisor.  Read on to find out more about the SHS chess team!

The Fall 2011 Sterling Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony took place Friday, September 9, 2011, at Roscoe Eades Stadium prior to the Sterling Vs. LaSalle-Peru varsity football game. The 1990, 1992, and 2001 girls’ track teams, along with individuals Keith Pratt ’67, Miguel Vazquez ’84, Ken Ronzone ’88, and Chris Shearburn ’89 were inducted.

The 2010-2011 Senior Awards Ceremony was held on May 15, 2011. Among the numerous awards, a new scholarship was introduced. The George Marshall Memorial Scholarship, like many others, was created to recognize a former SHS student, and to memorialize his life.
